On page 789 of the 4th edition of Clinical Sports Medicine (@CSM4ed) we discuss how loading actually stimulates tissue repair. We have nice pictures explaining it and you can read a more detailed discussion in the BJSM.
I thought everyone was pretty familiar with this but on Twitter yesterday, there were lots of retweets and ‘favourites’ when I linked that paper with the recent PEDro review highlighting that ultrasound provided no benefit in acute ankle sprains. There was a wave of support for ditching ultrasound in many clinical settings.
Several uni lecturers shared how they have minimized their teaching of electrotherapy. We aren’t damning electrotherapy all up but the evidence seems to be that active exercise is much better value for money in patients.
